Paw v0.29.0
Paw v0.29.0 takes a step towards easier credential exchange by adopting the FIDO Credential Exchange Format (CXF) for vault data.
CXF gives password managers a shared way to describe credentials. Using it at the core of Paw prepares the app for future import and export features, so moving your data between tools can become easier. Your vaults and items remain encrypted with age.
Existing vaults are converted automatically when you unlock them. Paw keeps the original vault folder as a backup with a .bck suffix. If migration fails, Paw reports the affected items and leaves the original vault unchanged.
This release also updates the CLI to urfave/cli v3, improves the SSH key forms, and fixes login favicon downloads.
Download Paw v0.29.0 or read the release notes for the full list of changes.
Upgrade notes
Back up your Paw data before updating.
Close Paw and copy your data folder. On desktop, this is .paw in your home directory by default, or under PAW_HOME if you set that variable. Keep this copy until you have checked your vaults and items in v0.29.0.
Older versions of Paw cannot open a migrated vault. If you need to return to v0.28.1, close Paw, restore the copy of your Paw data folder that you made before updating, and install Paw v0.28.1.
If you have a problem, please open an issue and include the Paw version, your operating system, and any migration error. Do not attach your vault or share passwords in the issue.
